Projects for the Holiday Auction from From My Carolina Home

Every year, during our Appalachian Mountain MINIs Christmas party, we have a silent auction to raise money for charity and have some fun. This year, I decided to make some Christmas cards in addition to a quilted item. I found these clip art images online, and printed off several pages of them. I colored them in before cutting them apart.

Then, I dug out some cardstock in colors to coordinate, and began layering elements. I began with mounting each image on cardstock to be a frame. Then I put elements together on larger folded cardstock to create the card.

Every ...

Sunday Chat – Christmas Ideas and a New Visitor from From My Carolina Home

Dawn over the mountain to the east this past week brought beautiful color with the clouds reflecting the sunrise glow. The quiet of the early morning is a nice time to enjoy a hot cup of coffee, just breathe, and plan the day.

Looking south, it is lovely to see the dark architecture of the bare tree limbs against the sky. Winter does have its own beauty.

The view into the valley continued the golden glow. The rain moved in shortly after and stuck around for two days.

Rainy days are perfect for a bit of stamping, getting my cards ...

New Year, New Quilter from From the Strawberry Patch...

Gregory and his Star Wars quilt topOur two local grandchildren have had an extra week off from school this week. Gregory (and his sister) spent the day with us yesterday and helped us to un-decorate the house. There's something about packing away the trees and all the decorations that makes everything look so bare and wide-open; it's sort of a clean sweep and re-examination of spaces that, just

Merry Christmas from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

It's Christmas Day!! How did this happen? Where did the year go? OK - we won't go there! It's been an extraordinary year!

Here's a family photo to share with you. And why do those dogs outshine the people?

Merry Christmas from Lexi, ME, M, Bear, and Murphy

Yes - a family member is missing, but he'd never opt to be in the photo. We'll just pretend that he's taking the picture - NOT!

At first sight, this looks like a normal photo. But notice that I'm holding onto Murphy, so she doesn't bolt ...

A HARSH reality from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

So things are going well. I'm on a roll to get the last of the stuff in Studio B sorted and put away. I swear, I've swept that floor a thousand times in the last couple of days, and I still can't eliminate all the dust bunnies! Never mind the Minky that is floating around.

I was a few days late for some Christmas cards, but they are all in the mail now, and I even delivered one by hand. I was scrolling through some photos on Facebook and stumbled on this oldie. It's hilarious, but ...

Behind the Scenes from From the Strawberry Patch...

Hi, I'm Gene the Gingerbread Man, I wanted to give you a quick glimpse into where Mrs. Goodneedle has been and what she's been doing for the past week. She and Mr. Goodneedle stay busy! With a porch ceiling to work on and shopping and baking to be done, all in preparation for an Open House on Saturday evening. With all of that baking going on the kitchen looked like a bomb had gone

Stamping Christmas Cards from From My Carolina Home

Christmas card making is usually done early in the month of December, but this year I just cannot seem to get to it.  So, I wanted to give you a few ideas from posts in previous years.  Each is linked to the original post for step by step demonstrations. First up, here is a Tri fold card for a gift card to be inside.

Christmas Cards 8

Plus that same post has more cards, as I just couldn’t stop stamping that year.

I did multiple techniques with dark color paper in this post, including some cut outs – Christmas Cards.
